Module · Exam School

The exam arrives whole. The test asks for what you let slip.

From the pathology blood count to the physiology blood gas: you mark findings, impression and management, and the correction lights up on the same exam what you saw and what you missed.

The Exam School and the Atlas X-ray and CT need an account. Signing up is free.

The problem

A list of values does not train reading.

The whole exam.

and 144 readings. The blood count arrives with every row, with nothing highlighted on what matters.

In PractiliumLabYou mark findings, impression and management, and the correction lights up on the same exam what you saw and what you missed.
02Anion gap

The math that closes.

and compensation only make sense together, on the same blood gas.

In PractiliumBlood gasBlood gas and kidney function read on the same patient over time.
031 value

Memorising without knowing why.

calls for different management in different patients.

In PractiliumFrom exam to caseThe blood count read step by step, before it shows up in a case.

How it works

Lab, panel by panel.

144 readings in 12 panels.

  • 190readings in the library
  • 12lab panels
  • 3fronts: lab, ECG and X-ray
  1. 112 panelsArterial and extended blood gas, blood count, iron panel, kidney function, liver panel, coagulation, thyroid, urinalysis, CSF, and pleural and ascitic fluids.
  2. 2Full or quickThe full reading takes about 3 minutes and counts towards your profile. The quick one takes about 1 and does not.
  3. 3Timed block5 to 10 exams, 90 seconds each, on a single clock.
  4. 4Serial readingThe same patient at different moments, with the earlier values alongside.

More of the product

Lab, ECG and the same patient over time.

Beyond the lab panel: a 12-lead tracing, serial reading and a timed block.

The whole tracingTwelve leads to read with zoom. The correction lights up where the finding was.
The exam over timeKidney function and blood gas read on the same patient, day after day.
Exam paceFive exams in a row, on a clock. The correction arrives at the end of the block.

Before and after

Memorising the reference value, or reading the exam on the patient

The same exam, two ways to study.

Memorising the reference value

One row at a timeYou know the potassium range, not what to do with it.
The math is left outAnion gap and compensation do not fit in a memorised table.
No feedbackNobody shows you the finding you let slip.

Reading the exam in the patient's context

The whole examYou read every row and mark what matters.
The reference lights upThe correction marks on the same exam what you saw and what you missed.
From exam to caseAfter reading, apply the exam in a clinical case.

At your stage

Where exams fit in your course.

It starts with the blood count in semester 4 and follows the clinical years to the shift.

  2. 2Basic sciences, semesters 1-4The blood count arrives in Pathology and Pharmacology. Read every row.
  3. 3Clinical years, semesters 5-8Blood gas and kidney function in Semiology and in the clinic, then ECG and X-ray.
  4. 4Placements, semesters 9-12In A&E, train 144 readings across 12 panels, checked by another model.

When to use it

When to read an exam.

  • 1In semester 4. Train the blood count that Pathology and Pharmacology will ask for.
  • 2In exam week. After 20 full readings, your profile shows the findings you miss most.
  • 3After a case. Train reading the exam types that showed up in the case.

Questions about the Exam School

Who writes the readings?

One AI model writes each reading and another checks it. No health professional reviews them, so they may contain errors.

Are the ECG and X-ray images real?

Yes, from open-licence collections (PTB-XL, from PhysioNet, and Wikimedia Commons). The Atlas X-ray and CT are simulated.

What counts towards my profile?

The first reading of each exam, in the full mode or the timed block, if you did not reveal the answer in the quick mode. Retakes and serial reading do not count.

I am in the basic sciences. Can I use it yet?

Yes. Blood count and blood gas show up from Pathology and Physiology. It is an educational tool, and no score certifies competence. Educational tool: no grade here certifies competence.

The blood count will show up in a case. Read it first.

Start with a blood gas, in about 3 minutes.
